Project Story
A narrow courtyard divides public galleries from archives and workrooms. It makes orientation effortless and gives every part of the building a relationship to daylight and planting.
The galleries vary subtly in height and proportion, allowing curators to move from intimate works to large installations without a change in material language.
Pale brick continues inside and out, making the threshold almost disappear. Precise black steel frames provide the only graphic contrast.
